Chucklehead Cider

Dear oh dear listeners - what have I learnt in the last week - never ever consume 8 pints of Chucklehead at 7% that is out of date and thus more potent, and then try and wash that down with 8.2% Westons. Those lucky guests who attended Saturday's BBQ will be able to tell you why, as my state denoted. Usually, McCarthy makes it until the end of the event, the last man drinking, sometimes even into mid morning the next day as was the case in 2007. This year however, Burgess Hills Favourite Minor Celebrity was passed out by around 1am, and when I attempted to go to bed I got as far as getting up before collapsing in a heap. This then resulted in toe nails being polished, which I am still unable to remove due to a distinct lack of nail varnish remover.

Despite the rain and my mishaps, it was generally a good night. Nothing untoward happened which made a pleasant change, and the Towers garden was once again left in a respectable state, so many thanks to all who attended. You can check out the action on the BBQ pages

On Monday, the Hamsters made their long awaited return with a convincing 11-1 victory over the Diamonds. It was a delight to be back on the football pitch, and it has inspired us all to play on a more frequent basis. Naturally, being obese, chronically unfit and bone idle this inspiration will never be seen through, but it was nice to think that we considered it for a moment

My two weeks of work experience is now completed, and once again, I have two back page leads to my name. This journalism lark is all too easy, which is in contrast to my book, which has still not got beyond the introduction stage. This is something I intend to work on in future weeks dear diary, as is my quest to complete Pokemon Red which has stalled completely since returning to university - neither of these matters is being aided by my obsession with Bejewelled Blitz on Facebook - something that is beginning to take over my life

Finally, two birthday shout outs - Dougie Lane was 21 last Saturday, and it is chief advisor Bert Lloyd's birthday tomorrow - happy birthday chaps, and I look forward to partaking in many drinks in the next 48 hours to celebrate
